Feign not fervent fighter
Such futile thoughts
Put out your
Vain imaginations
For thou cannot
Extinguish this flame
Upon some common
Wall of remembrance
Removed only in times
When you deem necessary
For these words which burn
Inside my heart
Are not kindled by your hand
They burn fueled by the oil
Of an eternal flame
And blaze far beyond
Your control

Hi D.S.! I don’t know much about these writing prompts and hope I don’t wreck the flow of other writer’s comments or end up sounding redundant. I read the poem without paying much attention to the photo. I had a strong feeling of a Knight in shining armor defending his oath against a foe in a joust. I guess that is much like a fire fighter facing the heat of fire or a writer facing an empty page. Cool poem!

Thank you Leslie your insight is amazing and you’re words inspire me. Those three certainly are similiar in a way that I would have not seen nor thought of before your comment!

There’s a layer here that I’m not getting. Probably more than one, but I’ve known your writing for a long time.
What you are writing now is different from what you did before, but beneath the lucidity of the prose lies the old oracular intensity.
July 23, 2010 at 6:32 am
I miss the old oracular..some how I must find that muse!
