Between moments of random madness
I dream of being sane
Then awaken to the knowledge
This madness fills my veins
The label’s not my own
Tis others thought it true
Just suited me to know
There’s more of me than you

July 14, 2010 at 3:02 pm
me too Pete me too! Thanks for stopping in to visit!
July 14, 2010 at 2:14 pm
Madness is an intriguing, frightening, fertile subject. Interesting, the line about it being a label that others applied.
Thanks for dropping by mine, earlier!
July 14, 2010 at 3:03 pm
you’re welcome..yes madness can be strange but it’s my life so I live it full..thank you for your visit as well!
July 14, 2010 at 2:17 pm
I can certainly connect with this poem, since I’ve had many people tell me I’m crazy to do what I do! Wonderful poem. I really enjoyed it. It is one of those poems you want to hang on your wall and read every day.
July 14, 2010 at 3:04 pm
glad you enjoyed it thanks for visiting!
July 14, 2010 at 2:21 pm
tight, the end is fine as a daggers point…as shay said madness is an intriguing topic, and with the echoes of the two at the end, i would say love is sometimes very similar…thanks for linking up with one shot.
July 14, 2010 at 3:04 pm
I would have to agree love can also be maddening but I’ve finally discovered it’s worth the crazy! Thanks for visiting!
July 14, 2010 at 2:41 pm
People are always quick to label – it makes them feel safe. Sanity…it’s interesting. What is normal? I’ve never quite figured it out and I don’t think I want to.
Thought provoking poem. I enjoyed it.
July 14, 2010 at 3:06 pm
Glad you enjoyed it..as for what is normal you’ll have to ask someone who might would consider themselves to be normal as for me I am anything but..or at the least I’m different from most! Thanks so much for the visit!
July 14, 2010 at 2:58 pm
It is so good to know that you can be mad too… as long as you KNOW it, it’s fine… when out of control, then it could be a “slight” problem 🙂
A lovely poem !!! And to me, it was so perfectly timed with my yesterday’s post ‘ma ma ma ma mad huh?!’ :))
Such unplanned timing makes me happy….
July 14, 2010 at 3:07 pm
glad you like it and that it made you happy is a plus..and yes I am mad and on some days a bit uncontrollable. It’s all good! Thanks for the visit!
July 14, 2010 at 3:40 pm
This is a great poem. Always consider the source of those who label and cast aspersions.
cheers, awesome to see your work today!
July 14, 2010 at 6:11 pm
Thanks you..consider the source is a wonderful phrase my grandmother used to say to me all the time! Though I have been sprinkled about with a fount of labels I’ve learned to rise up from the occasions refreshed in the knowledge that my trials only make me strong!
July 14, 2010 at 3:56 pm
Love it D.S. – yes there are many people in there…and it does not matter what others say…all of the us know who we really are…reminds of a a great book titled “The Divided Self” …blessings..bkm
July 14, 2010 at 6:12 pm
sounds like that would be an interesting book might have to look that one up thanks!
July 14, 2010 at 4:02 pm
That is every artist’s conundrum. I would let whatever madness I have to bring something into the world than to live in a destructive normalcy.
July 14, 2010 at 6:12 pm
Well said and I agree whole heartedly!
July 14, 2010 at 4:18 pm
Oh, I know those “moments of random madness”. Very well expressed!

July 14, 2010 at 6:13 pm
Thank you!
July 14, 2010 at 4:25 pm
Deep frustration in this one. Those labels are part of the problem, I’m sure.
Nicely done.
July 14, 2010 at 6:14 pm
wow didn’t even feel a note of the frustration great find because yes they do cause a speck of frustration but I’ve learned to embrace what I know and leave what others think to their own minds!
July 14, 2010 at 5:50 pm
this is really well crafted.
Sorry i havent been by recently.

July 14, 2010 at 6:17 pm
Well thank you and no apology necessary I completely understand it’s difficult for me to get around to reading everything I would like to these days. I’ve just begun what may be the first stages of a dream I’ve had for a long time. Trying my hand at writing a novel. Who knows we shall see either way I’m enjoying the experience and thanks for the add..should get me one of those blogrolls I guess.
July 14, 2010 at 8:50 pm

Made me realize, there is more to me than I

a fitting refrain thanks!
July 15, 2010 at 4:27 am

July 16, 2010 at 8:27 am
So do I!
July 15, 2010 at 5:59 pm
Aaahhh yes… madness. Can’t live with it. Can’t live without it. Seems to me like I’ve always needed a little inside me to give myself permission to do the artistic things I want to do! 🙂
July 16, 2010 at 8:30 am
I agree!
July 16, 2010 at 2:27 pm
We are all a little mad aren’t we? I have nominated you for the pink award via Kavita. Congratulations!

July 20, 2010 at 3:53 am
This poem is so well written – it has both humour and stinging truth in every line! Loved it! And, yes, I can relate to the words too much! But, life’s more fun being a tad crazy! Chloe 😀
July 20, 2010 at 5:49 am
I agree it is more fun being a bit crazy and thanks for you insight glad you liked it!
July 20, 2010 at 8:28 am
This runs on beautifully like one long sentence – very hard to write! Great sentiment put across too!
July 20, 2010 at 9:44 am

July 20, 2010 at 10:52 am
I think this is my first time to visit and what a rewarding visit. “I have the papers to prove I am insane.” Words from a dear priest friend of mine who spent several years in a mental health care facility. He always laughed about it. Me too, I got the papers to prove it. Love this. thanks for stopping by my neck of the woods. Blessings

Judgement is a dangerous pastime. It destroys if you allow it. That’s what I ‘read’ here, as you claim your own reality. Excellent!
July 20, 2010 at 5:24 pm
I appreciate and value your comment thanks!
July 21, 2010 at 6:14 pm

This could have been a tired, mundane poem. The theme is old, almost tired, yet you have somehow made it fresh and interesting. I keep re-reading it, wondering just where the difference lies.
“Just suited me to know
There’s more of me than you”
Those last two lines distinguish it, but that’s not all. You’ve pulled off something very neat here and I wish I could see what you did. It’s the poetic equivalent of a neat hack in engineering, i.e., an elegant and original solution to an oft-solved problem.
Sonya Rose used to do this to me a lot. I wonder if she’s still writing. I don’t know if you ever read her stuff, despite the fact that I evangelized her for years.
Divine madness.
July 23, 2010 at 6:35 am
I have read some of Sonya’s work but it’s been a while. You make me wonder where the difference lies!
August 21, 2010 at 9:31 am
simply awesome. its been quite long since you updated the blog.
i sincerely hope all is well at your end.
