Mat 25:1  Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

Then is a big start to this chapter.  It let’s us know that if we are starting here then we might need to go back to the preceding chapter and see what occurred before the then.  What has to happen before the kingdom becomes like the ten virgin parable of the kingdom?

Chapter 24 begins with Jesus departing the temple and ends with the punishment for an evil servant who has said his lord is delaying his coming and begins to smite fellow servants and eat and drink with the drunken.  When that happens then the kingdom shall be likened to ten virgins.

The servant in chapter 24 was given the task of being over the lords household to give them meat in due season.  He did not own the household he was a servant and if he were a faithful servant then he would be giving meat in due season and when his lord returned he would find him doing just that giving meat in due season.

Losing faith is as simple as saying the Lord is delaying his coming.  This whole scenario could be likened to leaving your children at home and telling one of them to watch the others while you are gone.  You return and find that the one responsible for watching the others has left the post and locked all the others in their rooms beat up and threatened them if they move.  Can you imagine what happened in the absence?  Mom will be gone for awhile so…..but what if she forgot something or what if she just sensed something was wrong and returns right away?

Jesus left earth over 2,000 years ago with a message that he would return.  Will he find faith?  Or have we the servants lorded over fellow servants as though we own the place or are we one of the ones beaten down by the fellow servants who have lost faith during the delay and think they can do what seems right in their own eyes.

Funny but this is nothing new.  Moses was absent only 40 days and the people grew weary of waiting.  Seems that everybody that grows weary will just eventually construct their own form to worship and throw a party.  Funny how God heard the noise and Moses returned and the leader said you know we just threw all the wealth in the fire and out came this calf…Think that story is fiction then just look around today and you’ll see it happening again.

Then…….then when half the servants are beaten down and the evil servant is partying like there is no tomorrow….you have two groups of people not even looking for the return of the LORD.  Half are vexed by the immoral behaviors but are smitten to unconsciousness and the others just eat, drink and are merry.  These two groups are not the unbelievers they are the servants of the house.  We see the evil servant’s fate at the end of chapter 24.  He is cut, divided and given a lot with the hypocrites…and there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.  Well, and that’s a mighty deep subject that’s what time it is today.

To be continued… the Threshing floor for those who wish look up for truly our redemption is drawing nigh…..
