7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her Give me to drink.

Note it is not a question nor a request but a statement, a direct command; GIVE ME TO DRINK.

The Word has gone forth not to return void but to provide healing.  She came to draw water. When we draw near the LORD he is waiting, he is seated, he is watching, he sees us and he is aware already of the need and He speaks.

Jesus is sitting on the well.  The disciples were gone away.  Where?  The disciples went into the city. Why? They went to buy meat. Again we see a statement in parenthesis.

8 (For his disciples were gone away into the city to buy meat.)

Are we gone away?  Do we rush ahead of the LORD into the city?  Are we seeking provision for physical needs and missing the spiritual man inside?
